Fuel of the Future

Bio-Ethnaol - The intelligent fuel of the future

Bio-ethanol (also known as E85, a blend of up to 85% ethanol and 15% petrol) capable Commodores join the smart Ecoline range of Holden vehicles which use a future-friendly alternative fuel or fuel-saving technology.

More power

Although there is less energy in a litre of E85, which means less range than petrol, the ethanol component has a higher octane rating, so you may notice an increase in power and overall performance for your car.

Flexible fuel choices

Bio-ethanol capable Commodores are 'flex-fuel', meaning they can run on regular ULP or premium petrol as well as Bio-ethanol and E10.

Changing Australia's fuel landscape

Bio-ethanol technology is so clever that within a few years we aim to create the fuel from everyday materials, including household waste.

Holden is working with the Victorian State Government and a group of leading companies to establish a second generation ethanol facility, capable of turning materials such as household rubbish and builing waste into more than 200 million litres of ethanol a year.

Next-generation Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) technology produces greater power and smoother power delivery over a broad rev range, with increased fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Coupled with silky 6-speed automatic transmission, your SIDI V6 delivers great performance and efficiency results.

Fuel Saving Technology

Holden's commitment to increased fuel efficiency means the powerful SIDI V6 delivers better economy than some four-cylinder cars. Active Fuel Management (AFM) on V8s saves fuel by adapting to differing driving conditions

Safety

If the long list of standard features like side airbags, curtain airbags and Electronic Stability Control wasn't enough, now Commodore comes with the added assurance of a 5 start ANCAP safety rating across the range - the highest rating possible on Australian roads.

Holden Calais has been independently assessed by the Government-endorsed Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). After four internationally recognised crash tests and analysis, every model in the range earned the maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
